An already strong Coaching staff got a little stronger this morning as the Ottawa Senators announced they have hired Martin Raymond as an Assistant Coach.
From the moment the Senators hired Guy Boucher, Raymond’s name has been floating around as a candidate to join Boucher’s staff.
The two have worked together in the past including in Hamilton of the American Hockey League and at the NHL level in Tampa Bay. Most recently, Raymond was the Head Coach Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Q.
The organization has been looking to add one more guy to the staff and when Dave Cameron took an Assistant Coach job in Calgary, it became that much more likely. Raymond’s name had also been floating around for Head Coaching jobs in the QMJHL so I’m sure the Senators are happy to get this done.
With Boucher, Crawford, Raymond, Cookson and Groulx on next year’s staff, it’s safe to say this is the best collection of Coaches the Ottawa Senators have ever had.
