Ryan Leads Senators Over Bruins

FIVE QUICK THOUGHTS

-For the first time since he’s been here, Bobby Ryan looks like a legitimate superstar.  He has battled some injury issues that severely limited his skating ability but safe to say those injuries are no longer an issue.  Ryan is getting around the ice much better lately and when he’s moving his feet, his high-end puck skills can really make a difference.

-The goal Ryan scored was obviously impressive but the pass he made seconds earlier was jaw-dropping. A five foot high, backhand saucer pass through the slot and right on the tape of Erik Karlsson,  EK would return the favour about a second later but that pass by Ryan to open up some space was something else.

-Full credit to the Senators for sticking with it and finding a way to get the two points in this one.  Probably not their best effort of the season but they found a way to win in a tough building. It would have been pretty easy for the Sens to pack it in after that Brad Marchand goal in the third period.

-And even though they came away with the win, it’s pretty easy to find a significant flaw in Ottawa’s game.  The power play has been an absolute nightmare lately and continued to struggle against the Bruins.  Ottawa finished the game 0/5 with the man advantage. Need to simplify things a little bit and just get some pucks on net. The goals will come.

-I’ve watched that Mike Hoffman tying goal a few times now. Is it possible he directed that puck on purpose?
