Ryan, Borowiecki Ready to Return

With the trip to Sweden now in the rear-view mirror, the Ottawa Senators shift their focus to a much busier portion of their schedule.

While they’re off until Thursday, things will pick up from there.  The Senators will play three games in four nights twice before the end of November including back to backs on consecutive weekends.

On Thursday, they welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Canadian Tire Centre and follow that up with a Saturday afternoon tilt with the struggling Arizona Coyotes. Then they are right back at it the following night against Mika Zibanejad and the New York Rangers.

And with the schedule about to heat up a little bit, the Senators finally got some good news on the injury front.

Bobby Ryan and Mark Borowiecki have been activated from the injured reserve and both are expected to play on Thursday night. Bobby Ryan is about a week ahead of schedule from the original one month timeline. He was skating in Belleville while the team was in Sweden though and had no issues shooting the puck.

Nick Paul, Jack Rodewald and Ben Harpur were all returned to Belleville earlier today to make room. Meanwhile Marcus Hogberg was sent back to the Brampton Beast of the East Coast Hockey League.

With Ryan back in the line up, the top six should get a huge lift.

We won’t know what Guy Boucher has in mind until Wednesday at 10:30 AM when the Senators return to the practice ice but it sounds like they may try Matt Duchene with Bobby Ryan to start.

Ryan looked great on a line with Derick Brassard and Mark Stone before breaking his finger but the Coach wants to see if they can find some early chemistry between Ryan and Duchene.

Mike Hoffman would either join them on that line or could return to his old spot alongside Jean Gabriel Pageau.

-Another off day tomorrow but there will be some news to watch for as the Ottawa Senators are expected to unveil their jersey for the upcoming outdoor game. The team teased the new jersey in a brief video on Twitter yesterday. It’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll be going with the =O= in some fashion with this latest design.
