Report- Turris, Duchene Deal Falls Apart

Well that’s some pretty crazy news to wake up to on a Saturday morning.

According to a late night report from TSN’s Darren Dreger, a three-way deal involving the Ottawa Senators, the Colorado Avalanche and the Nashville Predators has fallen apart.

The deal would have seen picks and prospects go to the Colorado Avalanche, Kyle Turris to the Nashville Predator and Matt Duchene land with the Ottawa Senators.

And while there’s still time for the teams to work something out, everyone discussing the deal seem to believe the talks have been halted completely.

This now puts the Senators in an extremely difficult spot.  Turris is a pending UFA at the end of the season and this rumour, combined with the St. Louis speculation from early in the preseason, makes it pretty clear that they’ve decided that signing Turris is extremely unlikely.

And now until the situation is resolved one way or the other, the cloud of uncertainty will hang over the team.

Even though this particular deal didn’t work out, perhaps there’s another team that can help facilitate the three way trade?

We shall see. Until then, I will be trying to make emotional sense over the possibility of losing Kyle Turris but gaining Matt Duchene.

Oh and there’s a game later today.
