Harpur Recalled from Binghamton

The Ottawa blueline continues to change with each passing game.

With the San Jose Sharks in town tomorrow night, the Senators have announced that they’ve recalled defenceman Ben Harpur from Binghamton of the American Hockey League.

Harpur has played in 20 games with the BSens this year, picking up three assists.  The 6’6 defender also appeared in five games with the Senators last season.

Mark Borowiecki is still suspended for one more game and Chris Wideman was injured during Sunday’s game against the Ducks.  His status for tomorrow night is up in the air but this is a pretty good indication that he won’t be available after taking a puck in the nose on Sunday.

The Senators are on the ice for practice at 10:30 AM this morning.

-There were a handful of moves in the organization in the last 24 hours including the demotion of both Buddy Robinson and Phil Varone.  That’s a pretty good indication that Curtis Lazar is healthy and ready to play against the Sharks.  In a bit of a surprise move, the team also announced they’ve sent Chris Driedger to the ECHL and recalled Scott Greenham.  By all accounts, Matt O’Connor has outplayed Driedger the last little while but it’s still surprising to see Driedger sent to the ECHL.  The organization seemed pretty high on him coming into this season.
