In what has been a relatively quiet off-season for the Ottawa Senators, a new contract for restricted free agent Ryan Dzingel remains the last glaring issue to be addressed.
And with his arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday morning, we can expect a resolution on that front before the end of the week.
While the two sides can and will continue to talk leading up to Friday’s hearing, we now know each side’s starting point in the negotiations.

Not exactly a huge divide between the two sides.
With such a small discrepancy between team and player ask, you would expect they’ll be able to find some common ground before Friday’s hearing.
The arbitration process can be ugly at times and organizations generally prefer to avoid it if they can. The Senators have gone down this path a couple times in recent years though so a hearing can’t be ruled out completely.
The 25 year old Dzingel had 14 goals and 32 points in his first full season with the Ottawa Senators.
