Hey, some actual news!
This afternoon the Ottawa Senators announced a new two year deal for Cody Ceci. The cap hit ends up being $2.8 million ($2.25M, $3.35M).
This negotiation took a whole lot longer than expected but in the end, lands on the bridge deal most people were expecting. The two sides definitely talked about some longer term options but in the end, it made sense for the organization to use their leverage to land on a short term deal. It will now be up to Cody Ceci to prove he’s the top four defenceman this organization needs him to be.
The $2.8 milllion cap hit is slightly higher than expected but still quite reasonable considering the role Ceci is expected to fill on this team in the next couple seasons.
