Anthony Duclair is going to have some company this weekend.
Tonight, the NHL announced that Ottawa forward Brady Tkachuk has been added to the Atlantic Division roster for the annual All Star festivities in St. Louis.
Tkachuk takes the spot of Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews who will miss the weekend with some sort of totally legitimate and probably very serious injury.
Brady Tkachuk’s offensive numbers may not jump off the page through the first 48 games of the season (15 goals, 12 assists, 27 points) but it’s tough to come up with a better storyline.
Tkachuk will have a chance to play in his first NHL All Star Game, in a city where he grew up and where his old man is a legend and with his brother lining up across him. Pretty awesome.
Brady may have to wrap up his bye week vacation a little earlier than expected.
The skills competition is set for Friday with the 3-on-3 tournament scheduled for Saturday night.
