Game Day- Sens on the Island

Written by SensChirp
On the heels of an impressive weekend where they registered wins over the Buffalo Sabres and the Winnipeg Jets, the Ottawa Senators look to continue their strong play when visit the Islanders tonight in Long Island. The Sens come into the game holding down the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference which has them 7 points clear of the New York Islanders, who currently find themselves in 9th place and on the playoff bubble in the East.  Needless to say but another huge two points on the line tonight.

Perry Staying in Anaheim

Written by SensChirp
Not exactly Ottawa Senators news but considering some of the discussion around here lately, this is news worth passing along. According to Kevin Weekes and the NHL Network, the Anaheim Ducks are close to finalizing an agreement with UFA to be Corey Perry.  The deal will see Perry earn the same as team captain, Ryan Getzlaf who signed his 8 year/$66 million dollar deal ten days ago.

Sens Close Out Perfect Weekend

Written by SensChirp
With the Eastern Conference standings as tight as they are, a four point weekend is exactly what the Ottawa Senators needed. Robin Lehner stopped 25 of 26 shots, Daniel Alfredsson had two assists, Jakob Silfverberg scored twice and the Senators finally played a game that wasn't decided by a single goal as they cruised to a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Game Day- Sens on St. Patrick's Day

Written by SensChirp
After a big win in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon the Sens return home for a St Patty's Day date with the Winnipeg Jets. Coming into Sunday, the Sens are just two points clear of the Jets but because Winnipeg leads their division, they hold third place in the Eastern Conference. Two huge points on the line at SBP.

Follow the Leaders

Written by SensChirp
When stars in Spezza, Karlsson, Anderson, and Michalek went down to injury, and with Cowen already on the shelf, experts across the National Hockey League were quick to write off the Ottawa Senators. Without their top centre, top defenceman, leading goal scorer and starting goalie, how could the Senators possibly stay competitive in the lockout shortened season?  While it would be easy to point to the outstanding goaltending (obviously a huge part), you can’t overlook the job this team’s leadership group has done under incredible adversity.
