Obviously this is a great sign for Anderson.
He has been progressing well on the road to recovery and while MacLean was hesitant to establish a time line for his return, he is getting close. In the meantime, the Sens play on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and will need contributions from Bishop and potentially Lehner during this busy stretch. MacLean emphasized that there is a chance Lehner could return to the big club at any time.
Jesse Winchester has made progress as of late but was not on the ice today. Still sounds like it is a week to week thing rather than day to day. It has been a long road back for Winchester but obviously the organization has to be careful with a concussion.
The Sens are back on the ice for practice tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
- Here is the latest edition of the Sens Prospect Report. The organization has to like what they've seen from Stefan Noesen the last little while. The 21st overall pick in 2011 has racked up seven points in three games last week and now has 80 points in 61 games.
- A number of interesting issues discussed at today's GM's Meetings including Hybrid Icing, hand pass in the defensive zone and the officiating in the league this season. For a great overview of the issues discussed, check out TSN's Insider Trading.
- Mentioned this on the site a couple weeks back but it's time for a little reminder. There is a push among the fan base to get Bell to offer HD signal in the Ottawa area. Bell requires 200 complaints to in order to make the channel available in HD so lets do our part. Readers can email Bell at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. edit: just noticed they have silfver at 43points in 42 games. he actaully ended with 54 in 49
Any news on bishops mask...news or info on what he's doing
I hope he doesn't get stuck into the "Darth Bishop" mode like when Gerber decided to run with the all-white mask for a while. Seeing that huge dude in an all-white mask kinda creeps me out.
Waiting on a new one that is being made. Haven't heard when it is expected to arrive though.
If you are with them for life I feel for you
that would be called a stormtrooper
Would make sure bell would have there games in HD on TV
Yeah but "Stormtrooper Gerber" or "Stormtrooper Bishop" don't have the same ring to them.
Go Sens!
All true I suppose and while I will scream and yell for us to win .... IF we lose maybe we avoid Boston in round 1 and maybe we help the laffs slip closer to 9th.
Ole ole? No, it'll be Choo Choo!
rather than ole ole, my buddies yell at them "you're gay, you're gay"
Your friends are the kind of fans I'm ashamed of.
I like Zibanejad's "potential" but Landeskog is the real deal!
Yeah Landeskog is unreal. He's on pace for 21 goals, 49 points and 219 hits for his rookie season. Add to that he's a +20 on the Avs, a team who's next highest +/- forward is a +3.
I'm excited by Mika's potential too, but Landeskog is the guy we all hoped for last June. Unfortunately that late season surge really took us out of the running for his services. Landeskog is well on his way to becoming one of the premier powerforwards in the game.
If Murray didn't know he knows now .. Adding Silfverberg and Mika could give this team a serious push in the playoffs
I said it couple weeks back tell uncle euge get the jet ready !! It's going to Sweden
Hey Tooks what the heck are you talking about ? Get over the Landeskog wet dream and back to reality. Talk Sens man. If Silfverberg comes to Ottawa, do you put him with Alfie and Turris or with Michalek and Spezza ?? Spezza has slowed down the last few games.
It's like when Bell tries to deceive people with "Fibe" into thinking they are receiving fibre optic connections...
You almost have to put him with Spezz and MM9, if Mika comes then Mika goes 2nd line with Turris and Alfie.
Yet another SOLID reason to be with Rogers
I know we have had the Zibby talk, and burning a year off of his contract, but the reality is that Silfver, seems much more ready for the jump, and we all know that we could use him in our top 6 for the added offence.
It seems a little odd that our management has not had these discussions
Would this not be a most logical move?
What are the logistics in getting him here for the end of the season? Anyone know?
Wow, really? That's horrible...I just don't know what to say about your friends then. Especially with all the horrors going on with homosexuals lately...bad timing buddy.
The best part is Im pretty sure a year is already being burned this year off of Silverbergs contract so it really doesn't matter if he comes back
You almost have to put him with Spezz and MM9, if Mika comes then Mika goes 2nd line with Turris and Alfie.
Zibanejad and Silfverberg both made their decision to play over there instead of toil with Bingo. I think allowing either of them to scoot over and play for the big club now, just in time for playoffs would send a bad message, not to mention where it would put them development-wise...
We have great chemistry going on now, a team that believes in each other and we get our star goaltender back fairly soon.
I say stick with the plan, and don't call up any of the kids from overseas. They can battle it out next training camp.
Hopefully they are their frail selves and we can steam-roll them. On the other hand, these games against teams with "nothing to lose" can be scary and we have a lot of them coming up.
Hope our squad made the most of their short break this week and are ready to work their asses off down the stretch and not take any team lightly.
Well "the plan" is rebuild - so if playing either guy would help them develop then do it.
The other thing to consider is that wasn't Zibanejad ineligible to play in the AHL this year since he was still under contract in Sweden? In that case I can see it being less of an issue with players on the team.
Silfverberg on the other hand could have signed to play in Ottawa/Binghamt on this year but decided to play overseas. But his play may warrant that he be on the team so I'
m not sure how much that will affect the dressing room.
Also, assuming that these players get better and progress steadily in the next few years wouldn't you want to have their contract renewed before they put up even bigger numbers?
Because NHL playoff hockey is bad for development? The best players available the morning of a playoff game is who should play. Look at the success PK SUbban had for Montreal when he was "thrown into the fire." he was amazing and was playing on pure adrenaline. If Zibenejad and Jakob S are available, they should be with the team. Practice with them, watch them prepare for playoffs, etc. If coach MAcLean thinks they are ready for a game in the playoffs, would anyone here disagree with him?
ANd I really dont know much about rules surrounding SEL players coming over. @Hax - Why is Jakob S not available for playoffs if Mika Z is?
Quoting Tookie19:
FREEBIRD !
If I've said it once I've said it a million times, "In Maclean we Trust." If that is the direction we decide to move in with Z-bad then that would be interesting, I am just voicing my opinion that we should be careful here, even if burning a year off his ELC wasn't a factor, which it is...
Taking a player who was not ready to start the season with the big club, send them over to the SEL where they didn't exactly have a jaw dropping season indicates to me at least that the player needs more development. Also consider factors like the ice size and physicality of the game which is why we really want our prospects learning in BINGO. If Mika was lights out over there and management thought he had earned his way into a roster spot that would be great, but I'm not sure that's the case.
We have good chemistry, guys have been working hard together and supporting each other and we've also had guys toughing it out in our farm system. I would be more than happy to stick to a conventional approach to a playoff run, with the depth we have over here and ready to go.

That is a low blow !!
Tookie is an informed hockey person, and you should change your name to :
Joke-a-lot !!!!
btw , I said he was gay ... not that he was ill informed , so read with care next time charlie brown
If you miss the Cheech so much I know a place that can print just about anyone's face onto a pillow case. :)
I agree with Snoopy. Most people drop the "gay insult" thing when they are teenagers. Popping in to spout something like that when Tookie hasn't even posted in the past couple of hours just makes you look even that much more foolish.
just like your comment , protecting him ...
why the hell stipulate about what we would look like ... that is plain and simply stupid and gay ... cause we have a good team , and you start with what if this and what if that .
suck it , the team we have is the team we will have for the playoffs .....
suck it again loser
Sounds to me like someone just got dumped, its ok bud, she just wasnt really into you...
LOL
just as you like em
suck it tcharger/rushrl z
We need you to reprimand this condescending guy Junk-a-lot,
as he is basically attacking many of us in a personal way.
His main target Tookie crucified him in a gentle way, but he did not like it so he came back with more vengeance.
He should be scrapped in the "Junk Pile"
sheesh some people cant take a joke.. at all. no wonder sens fans are all kids and older citizens and get offended so easily and are always accused of being the worst fans...
it really shows than none of you have been to any other real sports event outside ottawa... if i were you, never go to a football game and never to a soccer game in europe. youd leave crying
Puempel is not returning any time soon.
His coach is not even sure if he will be able to play hockey again.
Where the hell did you read that? The Peterborough Examiner stated that he began light skating and is feeling better, which is completely the exact opposite of being able to play again.
