With that in mind, Clouston announced this morning that back up Curtis McElhinney will make his first start in a Sens uniform. Anderson has started the last nine so this was a good time to get him some rest, especially in the second game of a back to back. The Sens are not expected to make any changes to a line up that has now won three straight.
Here is how the Sens are expected to line up.
Greening-Spezza-Butler
Foligno-Smith-Neil
Condra-Shannon-Svatos
Potulny-Winchester-Lessard
Phillips-Lee
Kuba-Karlsson
Gonchar-Smith
Puck drop is at 7:30 PM For the first time in a little while, I won't be taking in the game live tonight. Going to head down to the Civic Centre to watch another one of the top ranked prospects in the upcoming draft in action.
Ryan Strome and his Niagara Ice Dogs are in town tonight to take on the 67's. Strome is a guy the Sens organization thinks very highly of with some scouts having him ranked as high as #2. He has 99 points in 66 games this season and has scored a number of highlight reel goals. Will try to provide an update tomorrow.
That was not the way I wrote it haha
and yeah Chirp its coming up as one big paragraph...
Crap the bed McE you know you can do it!!
Epic FAIL for this new format.
It's bound to be a little rough the first few days.. Patience!
Not a fan eh? Having trouble with the spacing of the blog post right now.
Not sure what the answer is there.
Finally, Clouston decides to give Anderson a rest, and he starts Curtis McElhinney against a stronger opponent.
This will be a true test to show us what our backup can do !
GO SENS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes.
perhaps the glitch is at my end
Edit: wont let me add the code...

All one word, no spaces.
Nope there is an issue with that right now. Working on it.
Nice redesign though! It looks great!
If you view the page source (raw html) the paragraph has all the proper spacing and formatting.
Good call cloutson, to start anderson vs his old team and friends infront of family. good to give the guy a rest too.
Bad call cloutson on sitting karlson with 22 seconds left in the florida game to give the kid a chance at a hat trick, if you were worried about defence then play him as a forward in the last shift. the kid looked so pissed that he was taken off the ice!
Hmm not sure I know how to fix that though.
i am all for giving mcelhinney a shot tonight and hoping he tanks it for us. we've been picking it up lately and it would be a damn shame if we played our way out of a top 5 pick in the draft with only 20 or so games left.
lets get'r done boys, operation RNH in full motion! GoSensGo
That's why you have a designer. :)
I hit refresh the comments and it took me back to the 1 page of comments. It that normal?
Maybe some of my Tampa players will get some points tonight for my pool. Gotta feel bad for the kid as everything is excited that he is playing but only because we all think he will get lit up. lol
Does it look ok now?
Nope, I'll do a little research for ya.
There really hasn't been much in the way of negative feedback actually.
I'm surprised. Willing to listen to all suggestions though.
we need anderson on this team next year!
I think its probably in the template that your designer made for you if you've made html breaks and its not displaying properly, does it look correct when you try to edit it?
Initially it looked fine on the edit screen but did not publish right.
I added the breaks manually and now it looks fine.
Even removing the www. doesn't help it. Hmm.
with line breaks

Hola Mr. Yost
I highly recommend changing your DNS servers if at all possible
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
Yost to SensChirp (e5)...
douche
The post looks fine to me. Also, glad you went with White Font, I can read the comments now... not sure what you mean about 'pop out' comments, mine are just on the bottom of the page..
good work so far, still some things to work out, but not a bad launch in my opinion
Would assume this can be changed in your account settings?
post looks fine in IE, but not firefox, i just confirmed.
Quite strange. Add it to the To Do List.
Along with fix Iphone compatibility and drink several beers
Had to use tags. Just did normal spacing at first but that didn't work.
Added the tags and it seemed to fix it.
This new site looks like a poor version of hfboards.com
Doubt that I'll bother fighting through the fluff to use it.
I'm all ears to suggestions. What is the fluff?
Anyways, glad to see McE start, we need a loss!! LOL
Chirp the edit page is really hard to read the text you're editing btw.
Not sure I really see it as all that different.
Once the pop up comment box is fixed up it will be exactly like the old site.
This guy is causing havoc already.
I would delete any of his comments ,if it is the right guy !
this is way different believe it or not, Chirp is ironing out the bugs and the commenting will be basically like the old site with the additions of editing/quoting /thumbs up down/and more.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/498698/white-light-vs-black-dark-backgrounds-health-effects
That pop up box will be essentially the same as the old site but with a couple extra (optional) features.
Other then that..fantastic layout and set-up!
I love the site btw, forums FTW!
If you're going to keep it - I appreciate the addition to add to the content.
Cheers,
Woody
To be fair to the goalies, McElhinney is facing a team tonight with a few more sharpshooters in their lineup than last nights game.
It will be interesting to see if the players react differently with someone else in nets. And has anyone else noticed that since Anderson has been in nets, Phillips is playing some of his best hockey. He seems to be coming back into his old form. If he can continue to play like this we got a good deal on the signing. I'm glad he stayed a Senator.
I'll agree to some extent on the busy, theres some stuff that I think can be removed, like the social sharing links and rating articles. But really, its still very early in its stages and will look super slick as a final product.
Agreed. I forgot to add that part in my last comment - that its still in its early stages.
Once its final - I'll re-evaluate.
Also - the old version of the comments doesnt work for me... that is what I'm most disappointed about.. I dont like the new comment look/section.
http://twitter.com/SunGarrioch - #FF @6thSens @Ian_Mendes @Senstown @TimCBaines. There you go fellas, just trying to help out.
Yea I was just looking at those very things actually. I really don't think they need to be there.
A bit slow as of now but im sure thats expected because of the high traffic and new site launch
Saw that. Thanks for passing it along.
Thought I could trust the Sens not to announce any signings the day I'm trying to get this damn site sorted out!
Because he knows gretzky. I think that's the only requirement lol
As I said this morning... saying that 'Air Canada has peanut bags that are too small' is not an intelligent take.
Edit: The box in the edit function is almost unreadable.
I think the pairing with Lee has more to do with that. Lee has just been playing solid defense which I think allows Phillips to focus on his game more then having to worry what his partner is going to do.
I wouldn't remove them, it could drive traffic and new fans to your site. Do under estimate the usefulness of social media sites. The ratings don't really matter though.
Is that really of any particular use?
Re: Comment section - So far, I find it to be alot like the TSN comment section site... which I don't like.
My 2 cents.
You asked me what the issue was when editing a post but not sure if anyone else is seeing this
Here is a screenshot of what I see when editing a post
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/yy128/kickn_it/newChirp.jpg
That being said, I love the new site. After a few formatting road bumps, it should turn out great.
Gotchya. Yea Ill see if we can clean that up.
What kind of problem?
That icon on bottom left called "Change"
How do I get rid of it ??
Do I unsubscribe ,and it will diaspear??
I liked how it looked a lot better at home then I do today from work. The popup comments seem to popup in the top left of the browser at work, but partially offscreen so I can't grab it and move it. Also, it's not a separate browser window, like the old site, which was preferable. There are too many pages as well, can we allow at least 50-100 comments per page?
Also typing gray on gray is not working for the comment box.
Overall the setup and visual aspect of the home page is pretty sweet, but the functionality beyond that needs help.
This is the only sports website I've ever been interested in posting on, I just hope that the comment section can be fixed well enough for it to be worthwhile to continue. Either way I'll still check in for the articles and rumors.
Comment length doesn't work properly.
among the many things that have impressed my about Anderson, is his ability to not let in BAD goals. Anderson has one shutout and has allowed just a single goal in six of his other eight starts, and usually, those goals that do go in are really lucky deflections and bounces.
Now the guy isn't a god, and even the best goalies in the league let in a cheeky one here and there. but throughout his time as a Sen, there have been very few, if any, "bad" goals where which it was his blatant fault like Elliot did.
Good goalie man
Got it figured out.
It sends an e-mail of the comments to my e-mail account.
Just clicked on "unsubscribe"
Should not receive any more messages on my e-mail account
Take it one day at a time, as the proverb says !
Learning process for me too. I happen to love the new design but that has a lot to do with the increased options on my end.
That being said, I hope we get a good look at Mc tonight in nets. I don't want to see him get shelled, but a loss here wouldn't hurt.
Question though - why wouldn't CC flip the goalies duties the other way? Mc last night against the panters and Anderson tonight against the Bolts? Or is that then we would have had 2 wins vs 1?
Larsson Karlsson Cowen Rundblad Lee Phillips with Gryba and Weircoch as subs
How about 25 comments or more per page? keep up the great work!
and editing is barely visible.
Larsson hasn't proved he is the stand out best player in the draft, in a draft like this one with 5 guys who are all potential to become solid NHL players you draft based on need and that is a forward and particularly one who can score.
You could go either way on those, really I don't think it hurts anything.
The icons should use transparent png images or a better cleanup of the edges since they are full of white spots. Plus they could be a bit bigger. IMHO.
Under the post title click "popup comments".
Yep some tinkering to be done with the number of comments and the way the page refreshes.
Once the popup comments are up and running things should be better.
RE: The site - Comments are drastically easier to read today. Well done Chirp. Though the 'pop-up' comments is set to be too high. The close button is unreachable. lol
Worst Stream ever:
http://livesens.blogspot.com/
what more can you ask for?
mickey is playing like a solid backup goalie
Kuba is playing sick... creating chemistry with karlsson
Phillips is invisible (meaning so is everyone else on the ice.. perfect)
and Gonchar is creating offence
nick foligno using his speed to draw penalties
what a change a few weeks makes
oh, and has anybody mentioned Butler???
it was only a matter of time
Time to go to Optometrist for eye test !
who kept knocking me, and pre-judging Curtis McElhinney, by calling him a "place holder" and not a qualified backup. ???
So far after 40 minutes he has made some superb saves on Lecavalier, Stamkos, St-louis etc ....
Unless the roof falls in, he should be one of the 3 Stars in this game
Guys stepping up, Anderson and Spezza showing leadership, a waiver pick up standing on his head, another road win versus a top team...
Gotta love the confidence of the team. They've really embraced being a spoiler.
It's amazing what a change in mentality can do for a team.
Don't worry about the draft position guys. Go for 4 straight boys!!
Team played great 2 way hockey, and the "place holder" named Curtis McElhinney, made 34 stops on 35 shots , earning him the 1st Star in the game !
"and there's absolutey nothing wrong with that"
anyways - first post on new site - looks great chirp
