So you boycott some games, 10 years or 5 years goes by when the next cba ends. NHL has inevitably recovered and revenues are higher than they were in 2011. How much do you think the NHL /NHLPA remembers the initial fallout if there is no long term impact. Wanna make a statement? I get it.... If anything, I'd suggest a league wide fan strike on opening game day. Fans actually go to the rink and picket it will receive the exposure required to make a statement and be heard and as fans we may realize some immediate reciprocity but any long term impact will be long forgotten like last time. The only way to keep it fresh in their brain would be to begin boycotting the final year of a cba until a new one is in place...

Not quite. It's more like, "I am not going to buy your product for a while because I am pissed at your lack of respect for your paying customers". The fans, their support and their money are taken for granted by the NHL and the players. Please don't give me any crap about how not attending games this year will hurt the Sens. I have put *a lot* of money into that organization for the past 20 years. It's my choice that my hard earned money will *not* be going to the NHL or players for the rest of this season (if there is a season!).

The problem is with the big players and the owner/business. First off, what exactly is a reasonable salary? I mean, the reason why owners pay their star players as much as they do is because the stars are willing to leave, because someone, some team out there will always be willing to pay more. So what you have to do is, build a winning tradition, and get players to sign here for less, or what you call, fair reasonable price. Could you walk up to Karlsson and tell him that his salary is going to be the same amount as say, no offence intended, Chris Neil or Zack Smith? Many owners ARE responsible but it's the PLAYERS that want the big contract, that and a few owners are you know, terrible. What the owner SHOULD do is grow some balls and NOT sign the player if he's going to be such a fuss.

ok we are all on the same page on being pissed off. Regardless if we are on the owners or players side the Fans are the ones who are the victoms in this. So lets stop supporting our Senators as protest... can anyone please explain how this will teach the NHL or the players a lesson. Will the NYR Montreal, Laffs, give a rats ass? Will the players till collect their paycheques? I really am struggling with the "lets boycott the Sens games to show our anger" Thats like a sales guy saying " I am going to stop selling, to show anger for my boss" YOUR FIRED! They replace you with someone else, and you are the loser. the logic does not add up, the Senators are a business, if they do not sell their games, then they will have to go to a place where they will.... ie Quebec, where they will sellout for years. So yes I get the anger, we are all on the same page, but staying away from SBP will only hurt our Senators Franchise, and ultimately ourselves. Yes we should make a statement, the real question is how? But please do not make Melnyk or our Sens Franchise pay for the immaturity and stupidity of the NHL and the PA IMO only of course

I agree with Peluso, I cannot see a way we can do what everyone suggesting 'boycott Sens games' to hurt the NHL, without actually hurting the Sens. If we did that, we are also hurting the local merchants.
I hear ya - I was totally the star athlete in the 80's - all the school girls loved me. The massive mullet helped. My point is that hurting the Sens, hurts ourselves. As an owner, taking a Hamrlik-esque stance would result is far worse consequences than he'll ever face. ~ Bettman "Oh Eugene, you want to play? You want to go against the rest of the BoG's? OK then - you never get another ASG, draft, and actually you'll never win another playoff game, draft lottery either. Oh, and I'm working on a time machine that will allow me to go back in time and remove your franchise allotment in 1990 in T-Bay. I AM BETTMAN!" The Sens have been a responsible, fair team. Don't be fooled, we are one of the smallest markets in the league, squashed between the largest and the 2nd largest (arguably 3rd based on Forbes mag etc). Plus the arena is far from downtown. So you've got all sorts of challenges in the very best of times. oh I'm pissed. I am VERY pissed. Between the lockout and the END OF THE WORLD in a week, things are bleak. But by hurting the Sens, we're hurting ourselves. It's an ironic metaphor, but if you carefully consider it, it works: DON'T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE THE GAME... (see? ironic eh?) Have a great effin weekend, and go fuckin Sens. ~Peluso

Peluso, what I'm looking for is owners that will be fiscally responsible and pay out reasonable salaries so this mess does not happen again. They keep taking advantage of the fans by raising ticket prices, beer prices, parking etc...knowing that we come back every time. One game would be all it takes to send a message by boycoting a game. But we fans are like that little school girl that has a crush on the school star athlete. The NHL has no idea that we fans exist but as soon as they need something our tongues are wagging like a little dog.

It was a hard loss, but considering they stayed in the game with only 18 shots on net is a testament to the offense we've seen this club putting forth. But Syracuse is a great team so it's no wonder really. The first meeting of the season had them winning 6 to 5, and the shots were 42 to 27 for them. When we beat them 2 to 1 on Nov 23rd, the shots were 31 to 24. 3 games total and we've mustered 69 shots. And I agree with you Patrick 2.0. I've mentioned this a few weeks into the season, our goalies have been facing upwards of 35+ shots and into the 40's on too many nights. I can't find a page that puts these stats into a nice clean chart so you can compare, but you can look game by game to get an idea, which is what I'd been doing.

This is my opinion but... The teams that the NHL will never allow to relocate: Toronto Montreal Boston New York Detroit Pittsburgh Philly Middle of the pack: Sens Canucks LA/Anaheim/San Jose Colorado Devils Most likely to relocate: Columbus Phoenix Nashville Minnesota Calgary I highly doubt the Sens ever move, but if you look at odds and probability, we aren't exactly a lock-in to stay put as much as those other franchises with history/money. We're not a big market, we're not really a small market anymore with the way the area is growing, so I'd say we're fine, so long as fan support remains strong and the city continues to grow...

Don, what exactly is wrong with Zibby? Some are saying concussion symptoms... Richardson is saying an infection. We know he had his wisdom teeth out and sometimes that takes a while to recover from... But it seems odd he would be out this long from the teeth extraction/infe ction. I'm slowly losing confidence that there will be an NHL season at all. I'm sure the league is hearing it from their sponsors.. after all they pay good money to the NHL and want a return for the dollars.. Even companies feel the effects of a bad global economy and don't have the $$ to spend they used to.. The fans are probably letting the NHL clubs hear it as well. You would think, if they (both sides) really mean it in that they both want to play, they would be NEGOTIATING back and forth until this was done... but it appears that is not happening.

Sounds like it was a close one, and I don't want to sound like I'm crapping on them for losing two games (because I'm not, they're doing very well). BUT Every game that I check the stats for, it seems that there are WAY TOO MANY shots on our nets. i keep hearing stuff like "Bishop stops 50/51 shots", "lehner stops 42/45 shots". I tried to look up AHL stats to see how our shots on goals compare to other teams, but was unable to find any. Am I just crazy, or does it not seem like our Goalies are being over-worked? Anyone else think that our D needs to tighten up a little? @ThePez: I don't think people boycotting SBP will cause Melnyk to sell, but I do think that it may tighten the purse strings for a year or two...which would hurt our sens while they are getting hot. I want to show the players/league that we are the ones that pay them...but I don't think hurting our own team is the answer, I don't know what the answer is. Boycotting "away" games??? that won't affect them either. I don't know what the answer is, I just know that hurting the sens is not it.

According to Darren Dreger, there was a meeting this morning between the PA and the owners, but now one of the sides are denying this. Ridiculous! There are many of us who have said that we will not go to SBP this year to show our disgust against this whole process. Some have come out saying that if we don't go, Eugene will move the team. That won't happen. I don't want to list every team as we all know who they are, but Ottawa is and would be at the bottom of the list of teams that would move, or the NHL would even allow to move. Say what you want about Bettman, he has always maintained that moving a team is a last resort. The only way the NHL and the Senators will get the message is with the absence of fan dollars especially in a gate driven league. I'm not saying stay away for ever, just this year, if they come back. For those of you who received the survey from the Sens on what it will take to bring you back, are you not insulted by what they offered? Free parking for first 5 games, discounted merchandise and food? What a joke. You can go to the local shopping mall and get the same gear at half the price. They don't take the fan seriously as they believe we will all just forgive and forget. It's time to send a message and a strong one.

Looks like the B-Sens played catch up hockey all night. They were outshot 38-18, and left Lehner unprotected on almost all the Crunch goals. After meeting with the mediators for over 6 hours, no progress was attained, and we can only hope for a miracle to get more traction once again. Will they meet again on Thursday ??
