I am a die-hard Sens fan living in Montreal…I am also a soccer fanatic. The reason why I bring that up is because for years now, here in Montreal our supporters group have a trophy that they hand out to their chosen MVP of the year.

I have been thinking about this for a while and I wonder what you and your readers think of the idea of trying to start up a Sens Chirp Ottawa Senators MVP Award.

How this works is quite simple (if through your contacts you can present/give the award to the winner).

Basically, the supporters group has a blog type website similar to yours…and the end of each game voting opens up, and closes before the start of the next game. Each person can vote only once, and choose up to 3 stars. Voting points…I think the easiest way to do this would be to have Star # 1 =3pts, 2nd Star = 2pts, 3rd Star = 1pt.

You can also vote up to 3 people that were the worst on the night…for those players they are awarded (-) points. but in reverse. At the end of each voting period votes are counted, and the process goes through the year until the final game of the season.

When casting votes you don't have to give reasons behind your choices, but you can.

Prior to the last game of the year, the one who gets the most votes wins and a trophy is presented to them on behalf of the supporters. I know that it may need some tweaking because there are way more hockey games in a season than in soccer but I am sure we can figure out a way to work it.
