Tim Murray was on the Team 1200 yesterday afternoon and confirmed what we already know; the Sens search for a new head coach is well underway. They have already spoken to a number of candidates and from what I have been told, are actually fairly close to wrapping up the interview process.
Soon the decision will rest in the hands of Sens GM Bryan Murray.
With the NHL Entry Draft now less than a month away and the NHL draft combine kicking off today, I figured this was as good a time as any to take a crack at a SensChirp mock draft. I am by no means an expert on the subject so this is far more guess work than expert prognostication but it should be good for some discussion.
Here's how I see the Top 10 picks going a month from now in Minnesota (assuming there are no trades and I think there almost certainly will be)
Jim O'Brien played the role of overtime hero last night as the Binghamton Senators evened up the Calder Cup final series with the Houston Aeros. The two teams now take a couple days off with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday night in Bingo.
Games 3, 4 and 5 will all be played in Binghamton.
As I mentioned in a post the other day, Sens GM Bryan Murray has begun his search for the next head coach of the Ottawa Senators. Cory Clouston was relieved of his duties a day after the regular season ended and since that point, the organization has been thinking about who would be the best fit with this rebuilding/retooling hockey club.
Word is the interviews have started this week.
The Binghamton Senators are in the Calder Cup Finals and SensChirp and the RSU have once again teamed up to organize a road trip to visit our friends down in Bingo. Game 5 of the Finals is scheduled for June 4th and you have a chance to be there to watch future Sens in action on the AHL's biggest stage.
You can book your spot today! See below for more details!
Up until now, it has been next to impossible to get any details on the Sens search for a head coach. A great deal of the talk about the next bench boss has been speculation. There are a handful of quality coaches out there and a number of them seem to fit the bill here in Ottawa.
The reality is the Sens really only officially started the search over the last couple days.
Going to delay the coach update until later tonight because I need to pass along a message first. With the Binghamton Senators set to take on the Houston Aeros in the Calder Cup Finals, planning is already underway for the next SensChirp/RSU road trip to Binghamton.
We have come up with a few different options this time around and want your feedback!
A furious rally by the Hamilton Bulldogs fell short in Game 7 and the Houston Aeros prevailed in the Western Conference finals. The Aeros will now face the Binghamton Senators in a series that will get started on Friday night in Houston.
The complete schedule can be found below.
As the May long weekend comes to a close, the Sens fans continue to count down the days until the NHL draft and a day that will be huge for the future of this franchise. Any of a number of scenarios will play out on draft day but either way the Sens will be coming away with a forward with tremendous upside.
There is one player in particular that has grabbed the attention of the Sens scouts the last little while.
Posted this in the comment section but figured a post of its own was necessary.
A bit of an aside here but a reader passed along some comments made by Toronto Star writer Damien Cox that in my opinion, were completely unacceptable. Especially considering this afternoon's news that Boogaard passed away from an accidental mixture of alcohol and oxycodone toxicity
