Puempel's Purpose

As we all bask in the glory (aka shake off the hangover) of last night's huge win over the New York Rangers, I thought it would be a good day to share an article sent to me by a SensChirp reader.

As always, feel free to discuss other topics in the comment section, particularly last night's massive victory over the best team in the Eastern Conference.

More Deadline Chatter

After a convincing win over a banged up Penguins squad, the Senators face a tough test tomorrow in the New York Rangers.

The Blueshirts are the top dogs in the East, have won five straight and just a single loss in their last 11 games.  Meanwhile the Sens head into Thursday’s showdown with one regulation loss in their last 12 games.  It will be two of league’s hottest teams going head to head under the bright lights of Broadway.

Sens Dominate in Pittsburgh- Karlsson Fine

The Sens scored an easy win over the Penguins tonight but before the puck dropped, the Ottawa Senators found themselves in a hole.

In a last minute line up change, it was revealed that Erik Karlsson would miss this game with an upper body injury.  MacLean indicated Karlsson tweaked something in warm up but should be good to go on Thursday in New York.

Game Day- Sens Hit the Road

With just one regulation loss in their last eleven games, the Ottawa Senators are one of the hottest team’s in the NHL.

It has been an impressive run for the Sens and one that started with a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins back on December 16th.  Tonight, the Sens will take on those same Penguins in a game that kicks off a tough road stretch for one of the NHL's most surprising teams.

The Turris Trade- Ten Games In

When news of the Kyle Turris first broke a little less than a month ago, the reaction was mixed from the Sens fan base.

Fans knew that Murray was looking for a second line centre but to see the club part with David Rundblad, one of the team’s top prospects, caught a lot of people off guard.  Add in the fact that the Sens threw in a second round pick and fans worried Bryan Murray may have overpayed.

Cardiac Kids Do It Again

The magic continues for the Ottawa Senators.

Down 4-2 after forty minutes, the Sens looked liked they were out of it. Except Paul MacLean's Ottawa Senators just don't quit.  The Sens rallied with four third period goals for a 6-4 win and in the process take 3 of 4 points in the weekend home and home with the Flyers.

Game Day- Sens and Flyers at SBP

After a hard fought single point on Saturday afternoon, the Ottawa Senators are right back at it this evening when they play the back end of a home and home with the Philadelphia Flyers.

You could see some animosity brewing between the two teams yesterday so I would expect more of the same at Scotiabank Place tonight.

With the Ottawa Senators sitting in 5th in the Eastern Conference, fans have already started to speculate about what might be in store when the NHL Trade Deadline rolls around in a month and a half.

In a rebuilding year, Bryan Murray could be put in a tricky situation should the team approach the deadline holding down one of the top eight spots in the East.

Great Time to Be a Sens Fan

The day started with an announcement from the National Hockey League.  It ended with one of the Ottawa Senators top prospects scoring a Gold Medal clinching goal at the World Juniors.

In between, the Sens scored their 4th straight victory, a win that vaulted them into 5th place in the Eastern Conference. Ladies and gentleman, this was a fantastic day to be a fan of the Ottawa Senators.
